Anam Cara Poesy Ring

Product Description

In Celtic tradition there seems to be a powerful understanding of love and friendship. In Gaelic, the word for friend is 'cara'. The word for soul is 'anam'. The 'anam cara' is therefore one's 'soul friend', the person with whom one can share one's innermost thoughts and feelings. The Gaelic languages are spoken by the peoples of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Scottish highlands, though they are related to the Celtic peoples of Wales, south west England and western France. The ancient languages, art and mysticism of the Celts continue to exert a powerful influence over modern western life. This simple inscription is in an uncial letterform (one derived from the rounded capitals of early manuscripts of the 5th to 9th centuries AD). Available immediately in Sterling Silver; or Gold by special order. Whole sizes only 5-12. Band width measures 1/4 of an inch.
